I-- What? [Trahearne pulls his arm back to look at the stain too quickly, sending the remaining ice cream flying off the cone. He can only stare in horror as it hits the floor, dropping his arms in defeat. The man behind the counter is so tired.]
Wait—! [ too late. the ice cream hits the floor and splatters up onto the side of lioriley's boots, leaving small splotches of mint green on the leather. she'll take care of that later. ]
No, I suppose not. [ she looks to the man behind the counter, uttering an apology as he comes around to start mopping up the mess. she tugs on trahearne's arm and tries to move him out of the way. ] Here, we can share this one.... carefully.
Perhaps we should leave with it. We eat the cone as well, yes? We can enjoy the evening. [That's probably going to make it melt faster, but... He wants this date to be nice. So instead of moving out of the way, he takes her free hand to leave the building entirely.]
... I am sorry about your boots; they're lovely on you. It will come out with washing?
[ she nods to both the suggestion to leave and his question about eating the cone. she learned as much when she went and got ice cream with zaveid a few weeks back.
she links her fingers with his, carefully balancing the ice cream cone in her other hand. every once in a while she dips her head down to lick at the chocolate dribbling down the side — offering it to trahearne in the interim. ]
They should be fine, I am not too worried about it. [ she glances over to him. ] What about your shirt?
I will take care of it as soon as possible. [A lie. He's going to leave it and water and be astounded when it's stilled stained by morning. But he looks so certain of himself as he's leaning in to take another bite.]
You know, I do regret not taking part in any festival activities with you. [He squeezes her hand, looking ahead as they near the park.] You were radiant among the flowers, you know. [Until he crushed her hopes and dreams... Oh well.]
[ she tilts her head toward him, her expression curious and mildly confused until she realizes he's talking about the festival before this last one. ]
You flatter me, as always. [ said lowly, cut short as she purposefully takes a bite of the ice cream to try and give herself time to think on what to say next. ]
I had looked for you, then, if you recall correctly. 'Tis a shame I had not found you sooner. [ is this getting sad again? ] There will be more festivals, I am certain.
[Oh... He hadn't known she sought him out. Now he's a little guilty... He shook his head, licking his lips clean.] I hear there is one coming up, but I am not certain. I will be sure to remain at your side during it. [And there was yet another kiss to her cheek. He was sure he could make anything better with it.]
I would like that. [ the eye above said kissed cheek closes, a small smile forming on her lips. ] Though I could hardly demand you remain beside me for the entirety of the festival. That would be terribly selfish. [ not that she would be upset about it, obviously, but it needs to be said that he is more than free to do whatever the hell he wants. ]

... I suppose I don't have to worry about more.
