[Canach doesn't necessarily hate Trahearne. He just dislikes dealing with the Firstborn for many reasons that are arguably rather petty. Even though they are two of the only three Sylvari on this island, Canach has had very little reason to associate much with him. It was true back home, no different now.
However, what probably irritated him most was the reason why he was actually contacting him at all.]
Trahearne, we need to talk about your little ruse.
[Despite Canach's rather obvious distaste for the firstborn, Trahearne did not have many qualms towards him. Outside of any banter that may have brought it up, he did not pay mind to his actions in Tyria and had no place to cast judgement. He was also no strangers to comments and criticism. He'd long since braced for them.
However, he wasn't quite braced for his voice then and there. He jumped, splashing his coffee onto himself.]
... I thought we had agreed not to speak of it, Canach. [He mutters with a hint of irritation.]
[Trahearne opened the door with a basket in arm, still positively beaming from the events the previous day. His good mood hadn't been consistent since... Orr.]
Good afternoon, Syrlya! ... What do you have? [He stops short of the counter, going to place it down on a portion clear of the photos. He might have to move some.]
[Syrlya perks up and smiles wide.] Trahearne! My photos finished developing, I was looking through them--you have to see the ones I took!
[He drops his current pile and grabs the image of him and Trahearne together--with his expression slightly startled and the image a little blurry from their movement, but Syrlya seems proud as he shows it to him.] I am keeping this one.
[Sooo the day or so after Syrlya moves onto Emil's floor, he realizes: they all kind of left Trahearne to deal with this by himself. Syrlya obviously won't be checking up on him at this stage and Lalli is... Emil doesn't even know if Lalli considers Trahearne a friend, really, so the task is up to him!! He will do it.
Specifically, he will stop by after he leaves work, in the very late afternoon. He doesn't actually know Trahearne has moved into his own workplace, but he thinks he might catch him before leaving. So.]
[You're a good friend, Emil. Trahearne's only had the company of books and his cat after the situation diffused. He hasn't exactly been sleeping since then either, so it takes a minute for him to actually wake up and recognize someone was there.]
Oh, I'm sorry, I'll be right with you... [He rubs his eyes and stands up off the floor, having made himself a space in the back with a blanket or two lying around. He turns around the corner and stops. Oh. Snow kid. Not sure if he's mad at him or not.]
[Is there a shelf for him to lean on here? He's found it and is leaning on it, waiting for Trahearne to appear. He blinks first, surprised by the apology - then waves a hand, like this is an absolutely stupid thing to apologize for.]
Don't be stupid. [emil] I came here to see how you're doing!
[Syrlya wanders around the bookstore with something wrapped in his arms, assuming that a tall green man is not going to be hard to find in this tiny building.]
[He definitely wasn't hard to find, but he was the very in the back. He's placing books up on higher shelves White can't reach... as well as getting distracted by the romance novels.
He quickly closes and shoves one onto the shelf when he hears Syrlya.] Yes! I'm coming, one moment. [With one quick glance to make sure he remembers it for later, he goes down an aisle to meet him halfway.]
[ Since the earthquakes, Red hadn't spent much time within Verens. The city had been badly damaged, receiving those from outside it civilians from the numerous hamlets, but not all needed to evacuate from their homes, and those of the mountains were far more stubborn to leave unless they had to - but at least, fortunately, they weren't about receiving an extra hand (...with enough persuasion and bugging).
...and actually maybe Red just wanted to check on the wildlife up there too.
But even he had need for supplies eventually, and there was no better place to go than to return to the city. Sure, buying supplies didn't lead you into the residential district, but checking on faces and even dropping off a few letters from other villages to dear friends did, and they were no favours that troubled him.
And it was what led Red to spotting the sylvari, a hard sight to miss or misidentify for any other. And since the last time they had met was in their shared work on finding the animals attracted by the love still in the air, there was definitely a relief and joy that surged in him, leading to his steps quickening, as well as the reason for his bright and chipper voice. ]
[Trahearne was on his way out of his new apartment with a satchel at his side. Is it full of books? Is it full of sylvs to buy cat related items? Or a bag of cat food to feed strays? All of the above. He's likely to spend another day visiting cats he can't take in himself.
He turns after he's locked the door, blinking as he heard his name called. He catches sight of Red and smiles, but quickly does a doubletake at his companion.] Red! Hello, you're... You have a friend. [what.]
Red slows upon approach, interested in just the planty man - until his words bring him to look to Jolteon, who's regarding Treahearne just as much as he might be regarding him, chin tipped to look allllll the way up that face. ...and just about everywhere else after, actually. ]
Oh, yeah. I have a few friends, actually. [ Tyvm. The answer is more teasing than anything, and Red gestures down to his spiky-furred friend. ]
His name is Jolteon! [ Was that a yap in greeting?? It sure was. ] He's one of my partners I told you about before -- a pokémon. [ He nods with the word, a reminder in case Trahearne forgot. ]
[Syrlya seeks Trahearne out in person, even if he knows the crystal would be faster. He had such a big hand in shaking the ghosts's control once they finally caught him, and... he knew where to find him alone for an apology.
So he approaches Paulson's, where they're still clearing the wreckage.] Trahearne?
[Trahearne, unsurprisingly, is organizing. It was only recovering books from the collapsed half of the shop, but... well. It was the best he could do.
He had his back facing the entrance when Syrlya arrived, and he jumped. Books fell out of his arms.] Oh-- Syrlya. [He sighs and turns to look at him.] Hello.
[ it's been a week since the block party, a week since trahearne finally told her the intricate details behind his death. with it all in the open now, it just doesn't feel right to keep her own past a secret from him. he needs to know, even if she hates the idea of it.
and yet she's still dragging her feet even now. there's a myriad of reasons she hasn't said anything yet: she doesn't want him to think of her differently, she doesn't want him to know all the things she has done (and hasn't done) in the five centuries she's been alive and decide that this thing they have isn't worth it. and she especially doesn't want him to be upset. her goal for months has been to make him happy, to keep that smile on his face, and if this shit keeps happening, it won't stay for very long.
but she has to tell him. he told her his secrets.
she knocks on the open bedroom door, leaning against the doorframe slightly. ]
[Despite everything that occurred at the party, Trahearne much more at ease as the days went by. Having everything about his death out there was more of a comfort than he ever imagined it would be. While Lioriley was anxious about upsetting him, it was the least of his worries.
He was relaxing in bed with Commander sprawled out at his feet, finally embracing the fact he could have a lazy day. He turns over when he hears Lioriley, rubbing his eyes and sitting up.] Of course you can. But only if you lie down with me.
[ when he speaks, she almost reconsiders. should she really interrupt this peaceful moment with this? yes, she should, because maybe — if they're lucky — this will be the end of it. everything out in the open, nothing left to hide, nothing left to ruin their time together.
she nods, stepping into the room and heading toward the bed. it doesn't take long for her to settle beside him, cuddling close and turned so she can see his face. ]
I have a... rather serious matter to discuss with you.

Yes. Begrudgingly. However things have changed. [There's also irritation on Canach's end.]
Are you aware that Countess Anise is here?
no subject
Yes, I have. [How much does he actually know about her? We just don't know.] And what does that change, exactly?
